WHERE MY SPIRIT LEADS ME
KEITHA ALWYNN MEMOIR

Where My Spirit Leads Me, which chronicles my tumultuous journey through life, a tale of survival, resilience, and faith. This memoir is not just a personal story but a testament to the universal human experience of hardship, hope, and transformation.
My journey began in the most difficult of circumstances: born as the result of rape, I was placed for adoption as a child. However, my troubles did not end there. I was adopted into a family where I felt I did not belong, and I endured years of rejection and abuse. At the age of 14, I made the brave decision to leave and carve my own path, setting the foundation for the life I knew I was meant to live.
By the time I was 16, I found myself pregnant by an older guy, and, in an emotionally complex decision, I gave my baby up for adoption. For years, I searched for both my biological daughter and my mother, navigating numerous obstacles and disappointments along the way. In my desperate desire to escape my past, I fled to Jamaica at 18, where I faced the highs and lows of life in a foreign country, including building businesses, losing them, smuggling Cuban cigars, and even serving time in prison.
My life took yet another turn when I was deported from Jamaica, and I returned to Canada, where I reconnected with my daughter and biological mother. I eventually moved to Grenada, where I began a complex love story with a political prisoner, who had been incarcerated for 25 years for the assassination of the Prime Minister.
Through all of these twists and turns, I learned one undeniable truth: faith is what held me together. My belief that there is more to this world than meets the eye, and that all people, regardless of background, are connected through shared experiences, has been my guiding light.
The central theme of this memoir is simple yet profound: it’s not what happens to us in life that defines us, but how we handle it. My story reflects a life of both profound struggles and remarkable triumphs, with an unwavering belief in the possibility of transformation.
I believe my story will resonate with readers, offering both inspiration and a reflection on the universal human experience. Thank you for considering my memoir for publication.
